Cosmetologie Fair 2009

Yesterday was the last day of the Cosmetologie Fair at SMX Convention Center over at the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City. The fair was more for those who owned salons/spas versus those who loved make up/cosmetics. It wasn't even too much for pro make up artists. The stalls were mostly those selling products in bulk (perfect for salons) and then there were a bunch of stalls that had interesting make up products, but none of them caught my attention enough to want to purchase their products (except for Suesh). Fanny Serrano's cosmetics line was also there, but they didn't have old stocks of their Color Brilliance line (named after local celebrities like Dawn, Lorna etc). I really love one lipstick color, and I have yet to find a suitable substitute for it.

I honestly thought that I had wasted my time by traveling all the way to Pasay from Rizal and shelling out the Php 100 entrance fee.
"I shouldn't have come..."

While doing my one last round while deciding what to else to do in MOA before I had to head over to Ortigas for a dinner date with friends, I stumbled upon the booth of Australian College of Hair Design and Beauty which will open their local campus at the 4th floor of The Podium in Ortigas. They have this small ad at Guadalupe Makati-bound on the tv screen there..and I've been wanting to learn more about this. I got invited to their free seminar that day on High Definition make-up. I figured, rather than do nothing, I might as well learn something new!

Well, it was worth it! After the mini-seminar on how to apply high-definition foundation, they gave us a chance to use their foundation (Kryolan). Each group was given one set with four colors of foundation + four concealer shades + finishing powder (ultra-fine micronized powder) + 2 concealer brushes, wedge make-up sponge. I was a little bit hesitant to "present" myself, but I did! We were given 15 minutes to apply high definition make up on our models (a.k.a. unwilling victims-slash-seatmates). My hesitation stemmed from the fact that there were some pro MUAs there, including a pretty known MUA who specializes in bridal make up. Also, I have applied liquid foundation using a brush...ZERO TIMES EVER! @_@

But, I guess, I have a knack for make up. Out of more than a dozen models + semi-pro and pro (plus newbie me) MUAs, I ended up as 1st runner up, beating out some of the more pro MUAs!

My wining model, Kat, wearing her flawless, award-winning, barely there, perfect coverage, high-definition foundation!!! (I'm really happy,so bear with the over-exageration >_<)

Not only that, I won a cream palette for being 1st runner up:
To be completely honest, I have no idea what some of these are for...someone help me out!

They also gave me a Php 3,000 discount for ANY of their courses at ACHDB. and as if it wasn't enough, I also won in their raffle for another Php 3,000 discount!

Should I take this as a sign to formally study make up classes? ♥
